tons of our friends have had February babies in the last couple of years, so i think birthdays are on my mind.
i'm already thinking of the theme for
landon's birthday, which isn't until may, but you can't ever be too prepared, i guess! in thinking about all of these birthdays i remembered the favors from last year...what i believe was my best attempt to give things that went with the theme and were homemade.
last year's theme was robots, which he is still obsessed with...
for the favors, i bought
satchels (love that word) from oriental trading. i made iron-on transfers for each of the bags that had robots and the child's name on there.

I filled each
satchel with:
1. A robot matching game that i made out of
card stock (i laminated the images so they would last longer). i put the games in an envelope with a label that explained the directions.

2. A robot t-shirt transfer...again, in an envelope with a direction label. each robot image was different...i even had pink robot images for the girls!

3. A list of
landon's favorite robot games and the
internet addresses so they were easy to find.

4. handmade robot magnet, chalk, so that kids could draw their own robots, and bubbles. i wrapped the chalk and the bubbles in aluminum foil to match the robot theme. I put a label on the chalk that suggested they draw their own robots with the chalk and the label for the bubbles thanked folks for celebrating with us.

I made all of these things over Spring Break last year so i wasn't going crazy trying to get it all together during the crazy teaching month of May. i hope i remember to do the same this year!
